59. It’s only a year…right? But a significant one. The last year of my 50’s. The end of my 5th decade. One more year until 60. What do I do between now and 60? Because it feels momentous and it feels like I should do something momentous in return.
It won’t be easy in a pandemic year, but I plan to try some new things…perhaps 60 of them? Perhaps. We’ll see what happens.
But I’m excited because Joe and Kamala won. So I plan to live closer to my edge. Enjoy things a bit more. Try some new things. Maybe try some old things I haven’t done in a long time.
Who knows. What I do know is that I’m done waiting. Sure I may have to wait out a pandemic but that doesn’t mean I have to wait to do new things.
I’ll let you know how things go!
Happy 59th to you from one who is just a month away from the big 60! I’ve had a list of 12 things to do before turning 60 (60 things sounded like too many) and unfortunately many were overseas travel related so they can’t happen for a while. I wish you well and yes it’s another year and I don’t blame you for not wanting to wait things out before trying new ideas. All the best Jennifer and I’m glad recent events over there have made you happy 🙂
Thanks, Deb. It just might turn out to be 12 new things. Hard to calculate in this new world exactly what can and can’t be done as our covid winter is coming upon us.
Happy Birthday! I hope you get to try all kinds of wonderful new things!
Jennifer, I had half of my year leading to 60 in the pandemic and it made the birthday much more challenging. For years I had envisioned a big backyard BBQ (my birthday is in August), full of friends celebrating life. It ended up being just me and hubby and take-out. I hope you find something worthwhile in this year ahead for you. Since I love trying new things (and am finding it challenging to do now), I’ll be watching your posts for inspiration.
I think your 61st post-pandemic birthday celebration is going to be an awesome BBQ!
Jennifer, So far the 60’s are pretty cool. They’re just going way too fast. The only big difference I find is my body can get thrown off balance more than when younger. Eat well and exercise! Boring but true. And yes… try new things!
Oh wow! I was waiting to get into my 50s and at 55 I can safely say it was pretty good. Wishing you the very best as you move into a new decade! 🙂
