I love maps—all kinds. I love the serious ones with exact elevations and distances and the fun ones. I love mind maps, fun maps, and National Geographic maps. This creativity prompt is based on maps and roads. What roads do you like to follow?

This post was inspired by a Deb’s World post: Hodophile: a lover of roads (and travel) #SundayStills. Her post contains pictures of roads she’s traveled down and flown over.

I love taking pictures of roads and paths. And her post reminded me of maps and how much I love them. I love seeing them on walls and ceilings. And I even have a book on making art from maps.

This creativity prompt is another Creator’s choice. You can use a map, a road, or a path as your prompt and build from there. Use your own or take inspiration from the below.

The first picture top left is the Garfield Ridge trail between the Greenleaf and Galehead Huts in the White Mountains in New Hampshire. The bottom left is part of the Meriden, CT Linear trail as it runs along the Quinnipiac River. The bottom right is Route 66 somewhere in California. I don’t remember exactly where I was when I took this picture.

The map in the above photo is a section of a fun map of Anna Maria Island (AMI) in Florida. You can see the larger image below.

What roads do you like to follow or want to follow or are afraid to follow? Let your imagination run wild.
